Some landscapes cannot be understood by separating their trees from their water. Peatlands invite us to connect these parts of an environment.
Understand the context
UNEP describes the Cuvette Centrale peatlands as extending across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo. Peatlands require attention to forest and water together. The explanation concerns a particular region and should not be applied unchanged to every part of the basin.
